Women’s soccer maintains third position in regional poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Simpson College women's soccer maintained its position as the No. 3-ranked team in Region IX, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches in its Sept. 19 poll.

For the second week in a row, Simpson (6-1-0) is also among teams receiving votes in the national top 25 poll. The week two poll was based on results through Sept. 17.

With Loras falling to No. 5 in the region, the Storm are now the top regionally-ranked team in the American Rivers Conference.

Simpson bounced back from its only loss this season with a pair of 2-0 wins on Sept. 14 and 18. The Storm topped Grinnell behind two goals from Cassie Nash and defeated Westminster with Jordyn Foelske and Maddie Hays' first goals of the season.

The Storm have outscored opponents 13-3 thus far, with seven different players finding the back of the net. Nash leads the team with five goals, Averi Baas has recorded three and five others have scored once. Nash also leads the team with five assists.

Simpson begins A-R-C play this Saturday against Central. First kick is set for 5 p.m.
