Wagoner voted A-R-C Defensive Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Senior Julia Wagoner has been named the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Simpson College women's soccer team to its best start since 1999 with a pair of wins.

Wagoner scored the game-winning goal against Carleton on Wednesday night, heading in a corner kick in the 72nd minute for the only score of the game. It was the first goal allowed by the Knights in 2023 and their first loss in 366 days.

Between Simpson's two wins last week, Wagoner logged 153 total minutes from her midfield position. The defense recorded its second shutout of the year against the Knights and surrendered just one goal against Carroll late in the game.

Wagoner and the Storm enter a battle of two undefeated teams later this afternoon against Milwaukee School of Engineering. Opening kick is set for 3 p.m.
