Raiders hand Storm first loss of 2023

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Simpson College women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Monday afternoon against Milwaukee School of Engineering, falling 1-0 on the road.

The undefeated Raiders (4-0-2) managed to edge the Storm (4-1) with a goal in the 57th minute. Lani Mears made a sliding attempt at stopping a cross by Addison Spilman, but it got through and Elizabeth Kuhn was able to finish in front of an open net.

The Storm were outshot for just the second time this season as MSOE held a 14-7 advantage. Mears made seven saves and Cassie Nash placed three shots on target, but all were saved by Megan Lacina.

NOTES

  • This was the first time in 13 games Simpson was held scoreless.
  • Milwaukee School of Engineering now holds a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head series.
