Barborka Award
The Barborka Award was a gift from Dr. Clifford Barborka and includes the recipient’s name inscribed on the prestigious Barborka Cup trophy. This award, of the highest honor for Simpson College senior athletes, is annually awarded to the senior athlete(s) who achieved outstanding accomplishments in scholarship and character, and has excelled in his/her chosen sport during his/her career or senior season. Of the qualified athletes, those participating in spring season sports (softball, baseball, outdoor track & field, women’s tennis, men’s tennis, women’s golf, men’s golf) can be nominated in the year of their senior season and/or the year following their graduation. The same spring season athlete can be nominated twice, but can be selected as the Barborka Award recipient only once. Athletes participating in Fall or Winter season sports can only be nominated during their Senior season.
