Women’s soccer ranked third in region, receiving votes in national poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches released its first regional rankings of the regular season on Tuesday, with the Simpson College women's soccer team ranked third in Region IX.
Simpson (4-1-0) is also among teams receiving votes in the national top 25 poll. The week one poll was based on results through Sept. 10.
The Storm suffered their first loss of the season against Milwaukee School of Engineering on Monday after rolling to a 4-0 start with wins over Illinois Wesleyan, Gustavus Adolphus, Carleton and Carroll. Cassie Nash leads Simpson with 11 points through five games, registering three goals and five assists. Averi Baas has also found the back of the net three times, while Hailey Kowzan, Brissa Valadez and Julia Wagoner have scored once.
Simpson's next match is set for Thursday night at Grinnell.
