Storm honor seniors to conclude 2024-25 season

INDIANOLA, Iowa - On a night where Simpson honored their four seniors, the Storm concluded the 2024-25 season with a loss to Buena Vista on Wednesday night.

The Storm (5-20, 2-14 A-R-C) saw the careers of Austin Murrow, Caden Rehmeier, Matt Schubert and Haydon Mead come to an end. Buena Vista (12-12, 7-8 A-R-C) played spoiler as the Beavers knocked off the Storm 77-57 despite Levi Gurwell and Bo Huston combining for 39 points and 15 made field goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Buena Vista used a 12-0 run to carve out an early 18-6 lead after the first ten minutes of action.
• A 3-pointer from Gurwell, who ended with 21 points, and a basket by Schubert attempted to jump start the Storm's offense.
• Simpson and Buena Vista traded baskets back and forth down the stretch of the first half, with BVU taking a 37-26 lead into halftime.
• The Beavers continued to put the pressure on, raising their lead to as many as 21 in the second half.
• Simpson responded by cutting the lead down to 11 but was unable to keep the comeback attempt rolling, as Buena Vista iced the game with clutch baskets to pick up the win.
