Storm fall to nationally ranked Saint John's

INDIANOLA, Iowa - After a tightly contested opening, 12th-ranked Saint John's pulled away from the Storm and secured the 75-52 victory on Saturday night.

Saint John's (3-0) and Simpson (1-3) began the match trading baskets back and forth for a majority of the first half. SJU's lead was cut to one possession with just 6:14 left in the first half. However, Saint John's used a 14-2 run to close out the half and open up a 37-22 lead. Simpson managed to find more of a footing in the second half, but were unable to close the deficit, falling 75-52.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Austin Murrow delivered the first lead of the game for Simpson with a 3-pointer in the opening minutes.
Baskets from Nathaniel Winter and Bo Huston put the Storm up 10-4 with 16:53 left in the first half.
Saint John's regained the lead with a 10-0 run over the next seven minutes, before a pair of Zay Howard free throws stopped the run.
After the 14-2 run for Saint John's to end the half, Bo Huston got the scoring going in the second half with back-to-back baskets.
Saint John's responded and continued to add to their lead in the second half before a strong finish for the Storm cut the score back down to the final 75-52.
