Storm fall in second A-R-C game against the Kohawks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Storm travelled to Cedar Rapids tonight to face off against A-R-C opponent Coe College. In Simpson's second conference matchup, the Storm fell to the Kohawks with a score of 79-51.

Though only six 3-pointers were scored between both teams, the Kohawks (3-3, 0-1 A-R-C) were able to surpass the Storm near the basket with 40 of their points coming from the paint. Simpson (1-5, 0-1 A-R-C) led the Kohawks in offensive rebounds and only came up one short in total rebounds.

The team was led by freshman Colton Rasmussen with 11 points and four rebounds. Senior Matt Schubert led the team in rebounds with seven.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Coe College began the game with an 18-6 run over the Storm.
  • The Storm were down by as much as 17 points in the first half, being led by Matt Schubert's six points.
  • Simpson closed the deficit nearing the end of the first half to ten points, but they finished the first half down by 16 points.
  • Simpson was held off from scoring their first points of the second half until four minutes into the half.
  • In the second half, the Storm found themselves down to a 32 point deficit.
  • The Storm finished the match losing to the Kohawks 79-51.
