Howard scores career-high in loss to conference leading Spartans

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After falling behind early, the Storm were unable to find their way back as they fell 95-71 on the road to Dubuque on Saturday.

Led by a career-high 18 points from Zay Howard, the Storm (4-14, 1-8 A-R-C) were unable to overcome a slow offensive start against the conference leading Spartans (14-4, 8-1). In just 17 minutes of action, Howard went 6-for-8 from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 beyond the arc to pace the Storm offensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Dubuque jumped out to an early 12-2 lead with Jaylin McCants adding seven points.
  • The Spartans continued to hold on their early lead, expanding the lead to 19 before Simpson attempted to trim it down before halftime.
  • The Storm found more of an offensive footing in the second half, shooting 14-for-26 from the field.
  • Despite the offensive adjustments, Simpson was unable to make ground, falling to Dubuque on the road.
