Storm fall to Central to open A-R-C action

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson fell at home to Central 100-79 to begin A-R-C action for the Storm on Tuesday night.

Central (3-2, 0-1 A-R-C) connected on 16 3-pointers to power past the Storm (1-5, 0-1 A-R-C). Four different players for the Storm scored at least 14 points, led by Cam Henderson and his 17 points. Matt Schubert, Levi Gurwell and Caden Rehmeier, along with Henderson combined for 60 of the Storm's 79 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Central opened the game on a 16-2 run in the first five minutes.
  • Simpson trailed by as many as 18 in the first half before finding its rhythm on the offensive end, cutting the lead down to just seven after a 3-pointer from Bo Huston with five minutes left in the half.
  • Central managed to weather the comeback and carried a 43-33 lead into halftime.
  • The two sides traded baskets to open the second half, before the Storm began chipping away at the lead.
  • Simpson got to within five points on two separate occasions near the midway point of the second on baskets from Schubert and Henderson.
  • However, Central continued to connect from deep, hitting 10 3-pointers to stave off Simpson and secure the 100-79 result.
