Loras best Storm in final road game of the season

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After falling behind early, the Simpson men's basketball was unable to recover, falling 86-56 to Loras on Sunday afternoon.

The Storm (5-19, 2-13 A-R-C) trailed by 11 in the early goings of the game but baskets from Zay Howard, Matt Schubert, and Michael Kasperbauer helped trim the lead back down to just four. However, Loras (16-7, 10-4 A-R-C) responded by taking a 22-point lead in the first half, and used that lead to outpace the Storm in the second half for Loras' fourth straight win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Loras captured the first lead of the game, using an 11-0 run to go up 16-5 in the first five minutes of action.
  • Simpson managed to trim the lead back down to just four after a 3-pointer from Zay Howard cut the score to 16-12.
  • Loras took control of the game down the stretch of the first half, expanding their lead to as many as 22 and entered halftime with a 51-31 lead.
  • The lead proved too much for the Storm to recover from in the second half as Simpson shot 10-for-33 from the field but ultimately fell 86 to 56.
