
Simpson falls to Dubuque to close early A-R-C action
INDIANOLA, Iowa - A second half run for Dubuque lifted the Spartans past Simpson, 81-67, on Saturday afternoon.
Simpson (1-7, 0-3 A-R-C) cut the lead down to just two in the second half before Dubuque (7-2, 2-0 A-R-C) used a 20-0 run to capture control of the game. The Storm featured three players in double-figures, led by Bo Huston's 13 points, and Simpson relied on 27 points off the bench. The contest marks the final A-R-C action for the Storm in 2024, before gearing back up in 2025 against Wartburg on Jan. 4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Simpson took their first lead of the game, 8-6, after a 3-pointer from Huston four minutes into the first half.
- Marcus Haupert and Cam Henderson knocked down back-to-back layups, followed by a 3-pointer from Colton Rasmussen to stretch the Storm's lead to 15-9.
- More offense from Haupert and Matt Schubert gave Simpson a double-digit lead with 12:43 left in the first half.
- Simpson held onto the lead until three minutes left in the half when Dubuque used an 11-0 run to erase the deficit.
- Out of a 36-32 Spartan lead at halftime, Simpson and Dubuque traded baskets to open the second half, with Simpson cutting the lead down to just two.
- Dubuque pulled away over the course of five minutes, going on a 20-0 run, a lead that sustained to the 81-67 final.
