
Simpson falls to Wartburg to open 2025 A-R-C action
INDIANOLA, Iowa - A second half 13-0 run propelled Wartburg to an 82-70 win over Simpson on Saturday afternoon to open up A-R-C action in 2025.
Four different Storm (3-10, 0-4 A-R-C) reached double-digits in the scoring column, led by Levi Gurwell's 16 points. Cam Henderson, Caden Rehmeier, and Marcus Haupert all eclipsed 10 points, with Henderson ending with 14. After a strong opening half offensive, Simpson was unable to replicate its production in the second half, falling to Wartburg (9-4, 2-2 A-R-C).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an opening bucket from Wartburg, Simpson rattled off eight straight points to take an early lead over the Knights.
- The lead lasted until the midway point in the first half until Wartburg knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the game at 15-15 with 11:45 left.
- Both sides traded the lead back and forth down the stretch with Wartburg taking a slight 38-34 edge over Simpson into halftime.
- Simpson erased the deficit out of halftime on a couple baskets from Levi Gurwell and Cam Henderson.
- The score remained close with 14 minutes left in the half with Wartburg leading 45-42 before the Knights used a 13-0 run to take control of the game.
- Simpson was unable to find their shot in the second half, after shooting 53.6 percent from the field in the opening half, the Storm went 10-for-30 from the field, and 2-for-12 from deep, falling 82-70 at home.
