Kalinay named IIAC Track Performer of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Dylan Kalinay earned Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 23, the league office announced earlier this week.
The junior from Toledo, Iowa broke Simpson's 26-year old school record in the 110-meter hurdles at Iowa's Musco Twilight Meet on Saturday, April 22 in Iowa City. Kalinay finished in 14.30 seconds, the third-fastest time in Division III this season.
Kalinay broke the record of 14.33 set by All-American hurdler Mike Godbout in 1991. His effort will likely be enough to qualify for the national meet, which begins Thursday, May 25 in Alliance, Ohio.
The weekly league honor is the sixth of Kalinay's career and third in 2017. Simpson runners have now won 7 of 14 Track Performer of the Week honors throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
