Storm vie for NCAA Championship spots in Illinois

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Simpson College track and field teams competed at the Midwest Twilight Qualifier, hosted by Augustana, in hopes of seeing more athletes qualify to next week's NCAA Championships.

The Storm saw multiple athletes set personal bests and also climb up the all-time ranks, particularly in the sprints. Ean Warrick had the highest individual placing by a Storm athlete, finishing second in the 10,000 meters in a personal best time of 31:27.63.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Warrick, competing in his final collegiate race, moved up into eighth all-time in school history in the event.
  • On the women's side, Maddie Hays took seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 56.95, putting her third all-time in Storm history in the event.
  • Bianca Clemons set personal bests in both the 100 (12.52) and 200 meters (26.07), with her 200 meter time moving her up to seventh all-time in school history.
  • Max Cleveland took fourth in the men's 110 meter hurdle final, in a time of 14.35.

UP NEXT
The NCAA will announce all qualifiers for the NCAA Championships tomorrow. The three-day meet begins next Thursday and will take place in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
