Kallem earns bid to NCAA Championships

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Lara Kallem of the Simpson College women's track and field team earned a spot in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.

Kallem is earning her first national championship appearance in track and field, following her participation in the cross country championships in the fall.

Kallem will compete in the 5,000 meters, with her qualification time of 17:12.71 putting her in 18th position and is the current school record. The senior recently broke the meet record in the 5,000 meters in the Wartburg Qualifier on Saturday.

"We are absolutely thrilled for Lara, as she is a great representative of our program and college," said Storm director of track and field and cross country Heath Moenck. "We are excited to watch her on the biggest stage. She has worked tirelessly these past few years and it is great to see her rewarded for it."
