Kallem, Booth lower 5k school record again

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Simpson College women's track and field team completed a successful first day at the American Rivers Conference Championships, highlighted by Lara Kallem and Teghan Booth lowering the 5,000 meter school record again.

Kallem and Booth both broke the previous school record for the second time in as many weeks. The Storm duo also rank in the top 25 in the event in Division III this season at time of writing.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kallem took fourth in the race with a new school record, running a time of 17:12.71. She also broke the former championship and facility record that had stood since 2017.
  • Booth was right behind her with a time of 17:15.78 to claim fifth.
  • Maddie Hays clocked a time of 7.98 in the 60 meter prelims, the first Storm runner to break the eight-second barrier since Lauren Martin in 2015.
  • Audrey Arnold qualified for the final in the 60 meter hurdle prelims, tying her career-best time (9.21) to win her heat.
