Nash earns second team all-region accolades

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- After leading the American Rivers Conference in nearly every statistical category and helping the Simpson College women's soccer team to its best season in 10 years, junior Cassie Nash has been named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Women's All-Region Second Team.

Nash becomes the program's first all-region honoree since 2003 and first recognized by the United Soccer Coaches since 1999.

Nash, a forward from Lincoln, Neb., scored 13 goals for the Storm in 2021, the most since Ashley Curran recorded 19 during the 2006 season. Her season goal total tied for first in the league, while her 76 shots, 43 shots on goal and 33 points were the most in the conference and her seven assists tied for second-most. The two-time all-conference honoree had four multi-goal performances, three game-winners, and earned A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 27.

Simpson finished the season with a 13-6-1 overall record highlighted by six A-R-C victories, the program's highest conference win total in 15 seasons and the most overall wins since 2011. The Storm wrapped up the regular season on a five-game win streak where they outscored opponents 20-0, and collected their first postseason victory since 2011 against Central in the A-R-C Tournament.
