Simpson duo earns A-R-C weekly awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson College women's soccer junior Cassie Nash and women's golf freshman Madeline Streicher have been named an American Rivers Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports, the league announced Monday.

Nash lifted the Storm to a 4-1 victory over Monmouth on Sunday by scoring two goals and assisting on another. Nash scored in the ninth minute and notched the game-winner in the 27th. This was the third multi-goal performance in her career and second time this season earning the feat. The Lincoln, Nebraska native is tied for third in the league in scoring with five netters this fall.

Streicher had a busy week by securing two top-10 placings, including a medalist performance during the Simpson Invitational on Wednesday. The Edgewood, Iowa native fired a 77 at the Indianola Country Club to win by five strokes and become the first medalist for the Storm since Sept. 16, 2018. At the Prairie Wolves Fall Invitational over the weekend, she had a two-day sum of 169 to place 10th.

Simpson now has four A-R-C Player of the Week recipients this fall. Nash and Streicher join Jordy Triana-Vasquez (men's soccer) and Spencer Moon (men's cross country), who both tallied the honor Sept. 7.

Streicher and Nash are both in action Tuesday with women's soccer staying home to host St. Catherine at 7:30 p.m. and golf traveling to Madison, Iowa for the Iowa Wesleyan Classic.
