Cozzoni, Nash land on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Juniors Abby Cozzoni and Cassie Nash have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team, giving the Simpson College women's soccer team its second-straight year with multiple selections.

This is Cozzoni's second time earning academic all-district honors, while Nash picks up her first. They will each be placed on an All-America ballot with first-, second- and third-team selections to be announced in December.

Cozzoni boasts a 3.98 GPA as an elementary education and liberal studies major and was named to the American Rivers Conference All-Academic Team after the 2020 season. She recently earned All-A-R-C First Team honors following her junior campaign on the pitch, bringing her career all-conference recognitions to two. The Wentzville, Mo. native was a key contributor of the Storm's defense that shut out six opponents during the 2021 season.

Nash, a dual-sport athlete competing for Simpson in both women's soccer and women's basketball, holds a 3.62 GPA as a sports administration and multimedia journalism major. She was named to the A-R-C All-Academic Team last season and picked up her second all-conference first team accolade in as many years at the conclusion of her junior campaign. Nash led the conference in points, shots, and shots on goal, was tied at the top of the goals scored leaderboard, and tied for second in assists.

Cozzoni and Nash join three other student-athletes from around the conference on the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Loras had two players recognized and Wartburg had one.
