Storm draw with UW-Platteville on Saturday

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Simpson College women's soccer played to its first draw this fall in a 1-1 match at Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday.

The Storm (2-1-1) and Pioneers (2-0-2) have now played in two straight ties in the series, with Simpson holding an all-time advantage of 6-3-2.

Freshman Jordyn Foelske tallied her second goal of the season in the 34th minute to put the Storm on the board. The lead didn't last long with the hosts knotting the game at 1-1 in the 37th minute off the foot of Amber Lueder.

At the end of the first half, the Storm held an 11-2 shot advantage. During the second frame, Simpson tallied six shots, with five coming on-goal to nearly break the deadlock.

UW-Platteville held tough during overtime by saving five shots, while the Storm stopped three attempts to keep the tie in place.

Overall, Simpson secured a 24-8 shot comparison, with junior Lizzie Arnburg and Foelske leading the way with five each.

Sophomore Brenny Frederick saved two shots during her 110 minutes of action to move her career record to 5-3-2.
