Eau Claire’s strong second half too much for Storm

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- In the second meeting in series history, the Simpson College women's soccer team fell short in a 3-1 contest at Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.

The Blugolds (3-2-2) tallied a goal in the 11th minute to capture a quick lead. Freshman Maddie Hays tied the match for the Storm (3-2-1) in the 43rd minute with her third netter of the season.

UW-Eau Claire erupted for two goals in the second half to push its record over .500. The game-winner was notched in the 53rd and the buffer was extended in the 81st.

Sophomore Brenny Frederick was busy with a career-high nine saves during the game for Simpson. Six of those came during the first half.

The Storm ended with 12 shots, while the hosts attempted 16.
