No. 14/17 Loras outlasts Simpson in league opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- No. 14/17 Loras women's soccer increased its winning streak to seven matches as Simpson College fell short in a 3-0 contest on Saturday.

The Storm (6-4-1, 0-1-0) were unable to hand the Duhawks (10-0-1, 2-0-0) their first blemish of the season in the American Rivers Conference opener.

Loras held a 13-8 shot advantage during the contest and connected on the game-winner in the 17th minute with Brynn Jacobi's sixth goal of the season. The hosts tacked on another in the 65th and 84th minutes.

Simpson had three shots on-goal and tried to break through the Duhawks' tight defense, which has only conceded four goals all year. Junior Cassie Nash paced the attack with three attempts and senior Megan Roberts closed with two.

Sophomore Brenny Frederick tallied three saves in goal for the Storm.
