No. 25 Storm conclude regular season slate with 4-0 win
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Scoring four times in the second half, the 25th-ranked Simpson College women's soccer team wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a 4-0 win over Coe inside Buxton Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Simpson turned up the heat in the second period and used goals from Hailey Kowzan, Anna Eide, Anna Sharp and Hannah Jansen to finish its American Rivers Conference schedule with a 7-1 record for the second year in a row. Addie Burch provided two assists, while Pepper Earle was credited with the assist on Kowzan's game-winning score.
The Storm will head into the postseason boasting an overall record of 13-1-3.
GOAL SUMMARY
- Following a slew of eight corner kicks within a three-minute span, Hailey Kowzan struck for the first goal of the night off an assist from Pepper Earle.
- Anna Eide opened up a 2-0 lead less than four minutes later, lofting a shot to the near side corner after making her way around multiple defenders.
- Anna Sharp (84') and Hannah Jansen (86') both finished off passes from Addie Burch in the final seven minutes to set the final margin at four goals.
NOTES
- Anna Eide now has three goals this season, while Hailey Kowzan brings her season total to six, a new career high.
- With Anna Sharp and Hannah Jansen both scoring their first goals of the year, 13 players have now recorded a goal for the Storm this season.
- Braelyn Thomas earned her second straight start and combined with Emerson Fleming for the team's ninth shutout of the year.
- The Storm have won 18 of their last 20 home games.
- This was the 14th time Simpson has scored multiple goals this season and sixth time tallying at least four.
- The Storm have outscored opponents 55-12 in 2024, including 32-3 in October.
- Simpson took 18 corner kicks during the game, the most since tallying a school record 21 against Waldorf on Sept. 22, 2004.
- The Storm defense held Coe (3-13-2, 0-7-1 A-R-C) without a shot, the second time this season the team has prevented a shot.
- The Storm improve to 20-10-1 in the head-to-head series with Coe, capturing their fifth-straight win and 11th shutout.
