GRINNELL, Iowa – The Simpson College women's soccer team used four goals from four different players to register its fourth win of the season against Grinnell.
Macy Kuhns and Jordyn Foelske both scored off corner kicks, while Cassie Nash and Hailey Kowzan sealed the deal for the Storm (4-0-1) with goals in the final 15 minutes.
Simpson's defense did not surrender a shot to the Pioneers (2-2-1) as Meredith Downs and Braelyn Thomas combined for the fourth clean sheet of the season.
GOAL SUMMARY
- Macy Kuhns broke the scoreless tie in the 42nd minute off a corner kick taken by Savannah Schneider.
- Simpson capitalized on another corner kick opportunity early in the second half as Jordyn Foelske finished a shot attempt by Anna Eide in front of the net.
- In the 77th minute, Cassie Nash lifted an open shot into the top right corner following a pass into the box by Kasey Shanahan.
- Hailey Kowzan dribbled down the field and added Simpson's final goal of the night with just over five minutes remaining.
NOTES
- The Storm improve to 4-0 when scoring first as well as 4-0 when netting multiple goals.
- This is the second-straight contest the Storm have scored four goals, bringing their season score differential to 12-1.
- Eight different players have scored for Simpson this year. Macy Kuhns, Jordyn Foelske and Hailey Kowzan all notched their first of the season, while Cassie Nash brought her tally to four.
- Simpson goes ahead 8-7-2 in the all-time series with Grinnell. The last three matchups have all been won by Simpson in Grinnell.
