
Storm rout Beavers on Homecoming, Senior Day
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Savannah Schneider scored two more goals, Cassie Nash recorded four points, and the Simpson College women's soccer team celebrated Homecoming and Senior Day weekend with a 9-0 rout of Buena Vista.
The Storm (9-0-3, 3-0-0 A-R-C) used an own goal as well as goals from Ally Hoffa, Schneider and Georgia Paulson to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. The offense erupted again shortly into the second half, scoring five more goals in the first 15 minutes. Jordyn Foelske, Cassie Nash, Maddie Hays, Hailey Kowzan and Schneider all contributed goals, with Nash, Foelske and Kowzan all adding assists as well.
Simpson utilized 33 players in the win, including Meredith Downs, Braelyn Thomas and Emerson Fleming, who combined to keep a clean sheet. The Storm offense took 62 shots against Trisha Westphal, who made 26 saves for the Beavers (6-7-1, 0-4 A-R-C).

- The win extends the Storm's unbeaten streak at home to 17 games dating back to Oct. 22, 2022.
- Nine goals is Simpson's largest scoring output since finding the back of the net 11 times against Iowa Wesleyan on Sept. 14, 2016.
- The Storm have scored first in all but one contest this season, which was a scoreless draw.
- This was Simpson's third straight outing scoring six or more goals. The Storm have scored at least two goals in every game this season except its scoreless tie on Sept. 3.
- Savannah Schneider, Hailey Kowzan, and Georgia Paulson all scored for the third game in a row, while Cassie Nash extended her streak to five games.
- Nash has recorded at least one point in all but one game this season.
- Meredith Downs remains undefeated through 20 career starts, boasting a record of 16-0-4 with six solo shutouts and four combined clean sheets.
- Kowzan and Nash have teamed up to score 20 goals throughout their careers at Simpson, including two tonight. Kowzan has assisted Nash on 15 career goals, while Nash has returned the favor five times.
- This is the first time in program history Simpson has been undefeated through 12 games. The Storm have not faced a deficit in 2024.
- Simpson's 62 shots are the second most in a single game in program history and most since recording 65 against Buena Vista in Oct. 2001.
- The Storm have outscored opponents 44-10 in 2024, including 21-1 in their last three outings.
- Simpson now leads the head-to-head series with Buena Vista 26-1-1. The Storm have outscored the Beavers 158-8 in those 28 games.
- Nash officially moves past Erin Goettl (75, 2001-03) for second all-time in career goals.
