Storm top Cobbers 2-0 at home

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 2-0 victory over Concordia-M'head on Saturday night at Buxton Stadium.

Layna Depping gave the Storm (2-0) the lead just before halftime, and Cassie Nash sealed the deal with an insurance goal in the 73rd minute, capitalizing on a perfectly placed corner kick by Hailey Kowzan. It was the 14th connection between Nash and Kowzan in their careers.

Simpson's backline and goalkeeper Meredith Downs kept the Cobbers (1-1) in check all game long, surrendering just five shot attempts for another clean sheet.

NOTES

  • Cassie Nash has scored in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.
  • Now boasting 65 career goals, Nash moves into third place on the all-time leaderboard behind Alicia Vegas (113) and Erin Goettl (75). Hailey Kowzan has assisted Nash on 11 of her 65 career goals.
  • Simpson extends its win streak at home to 12 games dating back to Oct. 22, 2022.
