Simpson draws with Carroll

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's soccer team played to its first draw of the season on Tuesday night, a 0-0 tie with Carroll (Wis.) out of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin.

Simpson (2-0-1) kept the Carroll (1-1-1) defense on its toes all night, generating eight corner kick opportunities and winning the shot battle 9-4. Georgia Paulson led the Storm, who had a number of near-scoring opportunities, with three shots. On the other end of the pitch, Meredith Downs made four saves to earn her third straight and sixth career shutout.

NOTES

  • This is Simpson's first draw at home since the 2022 season opener against Illinois Wesleyan.
  • The Storm extend their unbeaten streak at home to 13 games dating back to Oct. 22, 2022.
  • Cassie Nash was held scoreless for the first time since Oct. 18 last season, snapping an eight-game streak in which she tallied 13 goals.

Wednesday night's match against Westminster has been postponed. The Storm will next return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
