INDIANOLA, Iowa – Julia Wagoner put the Storm on the board in the 28th minute and Cassie Nash followed with two goals to clinch a 3-1 American Rivers Conference victory over Dubuque.
Wagoner gave Simpson (11-1-3, 5-1-0 A-R-C) a 1-0 lead off a corner kick by Hailey Kowzan, who picked up her 25th career assist. Maddie Hays and Jordyn Foelske set up Nash's goals in the 34th and 81st minutes after Dubuque (8-4-3, 3-3-0 A-R-C) tied the match with a goal from Alyssa Tranchita.
Meredith Downs made four saves before giving way to Braelyn Thomas, who closed out the final 35 minutes with one additional stop.
NOTES
- Simpson improves to 7-1-1 at Buxton Stadium this season.
- Hailey Kowzan now leads the Storm with nine assists, and ties Lindsay Clark (2000-03) for sixth all-time in career assists (25).
- This was Cassie Nash's 23rd career game with multiple goals. Her first goal goes down as her 22nd career gamewinner.
- Simpson is now just one win behind Dubuque in the all-time series, trailing 14-13-2.
- Simpson has outscored opponents 50-12 this year, including 27-3 in October. This is the program's third straight season reaching at least 50 goals.
