Nash scores brace in tie with Gusties

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Cassie Nash scored her second goal of the game to give the Simpson College women's soccer team a 2-1 lead early in the second period, but Gustavus Adolphus managed to salvage a tie with a goal by Cambelle Waldspurger in the 86th minute.

Nash's first goal of the game came in just the 8th minute off an assist by Julia Wagoner. The two teams went into the break tied at 1-1 after Ellen Becken leveled the game in the 28th minute.

Simpson (4-0-2) generated 13 corner kicks and outshot the Gusties (3-0-2) 27-11, including 20-3 in the second half. Nash had half of the team's 12 shots on goal, while Ally Hoffa recorded three of her own. Meredith Downs made seven saves in net.

NOTES

  • Simpson still leads the head-to-head series 3-2-1.
