Taylor tabbed All-American, named to WBCA All-Star Team

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College women's basketball graduate Jenna Taylor landed on the D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Teams and was selected to the 2022 WBCA Women's Collegiate All-Star Team.

On the All-American squads, Taylor was tabbed first team by D3hoops.com and honorable mention by the WBCA. She joins 19 others on the all-star team.

Along with these honors, Taylor's postseason accolades include: CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year, D3hoops.com First Team All-Region, American Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player, Josten's Trophy finalist, CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, and A-R-C All-Academic Team. She was named USBWA National Player of the Week on Jan. 2 and earned four A-R-C Player of the Week honors during the season.

Taylor helped the Storm (26-2, 15-0 A-R-C) tally the second-most wins in program history with 16.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as a graduate student. She shot 57.1 percent from the floor (2nd in A-R-C, 10th in DIII), 44.9 percent from downtown (1st in A-R-C, 2nd in DIII), and 83.0 percent at the free throw line. Taylor reached double figure scoring in 23 games and logged six double-doubles.

Just the second player in Simpson women's basketball history to surpass 1,600 points and 700 rebounds, Taylor capped off her distinguished career with 24 points and six rebounds in the second round of the NCAA tournament. She had six 3-pointers in the game, giving her 217 career makes beyond the arc to rank third all-time. The Creston, Iowa product played the eighth-most games of anyone in Storm uniform and sits top-5 in all three shooting percentages, scoring, rebounding, made field goals and made 3-pointers.

As a unit, the Storm scored 2,384 points or 85.1 per game this season to rank second in both categories. The team set a new program-best for field goal percentage (48.5), free throw percentage (79.1), and most 3-point field goals (253) in a season.
