Women’s basketball to host first rounds of NCAA Championship

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Simpson (25-1) will face Gustavus Adolphus (22-4) in the first round on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Storm are making their 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since qualifying nine years in a row from 2005-2013. Simpson rolled past Luther 106-75 in the semifinal round of the American Rivers Conference Tournament and earned the league's automatic bid with a 62-59 win over No. 18 Wartburg in the championship.

The Gusties won their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in program history and are making their first appearance in the tournament since 2018. Gustavus Adolphus has qualified for eight national tournaments.

No. 20 Wisconsin Lutheran (23-1) and Wis.-Oshkosh (19-6) will also make the trip to Indianola to square off in the first round at 5:30 p.m. The Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors received the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's automatic bid and the Titans of Wis.-Oshkosh earned one of 20 at-large berths to the tournament.

The winners of Friday night's games will face each other on Saturday at 5 p.m. for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16.
