Nash named A-R-C Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – For the third consecutive week, American Rivers Conference weekly accolades have been awarded to a Simpson women's basketball player as Cassie Nash was named Female Athlete of the Week and Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A junior from Lincoln, Neb., Nash played a pivotal role in the Storm picking up the final two wins needed to clinch their second consecutive conference championship. She scored a season-high 27 points with six rebounds and two steals in an 89-55 win at Buena Vista and followed that performance with 24 points and a career-high nine steals in a 79-65 win over Dubuque, including 11 points and five steals during a span of 3:15 which broke a late-game tie and propelled Simpson to a win. She also had five assists and four rebounds in the victory.

Nash is currently tied for third in the conference with 15.4 points per game and leads the league in field goal percentage (59.4), steals (71) and steals per game (3.2). Her field goal percentage is sixth-best in NCAA Division III and she ranks 14th in steals.

With two games left in the regular season, Simpson sits at 21-1 overall and 13-0 in the conference. The Storm will be the No. 1 seed in the A-R-C Tournament and will host a semifinal game inside Cowles Fieldhouse on Feb. 24.
