Kincaid earns weekly A-R-C recognition
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After leading the No. 5/7 Simpson College women's basketball team in scoring across two wins, fifth-year senior Cameron Kincaid has been named American Rivers Conference Player of the Week.
This is the second time Kincaid has earned weekly recognition from the conference in her career. She joins fellow teammates Regan Freland and Jenna Taylor as honorees from women's basketball this year.
Kincaid led the Storm with 39 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists over a two-game week. She scored 13 points in a 94-54 win at Nebraska Wesleyan before tying her career-high of 26 in a 97-59 win at Dubuque, including 19 in the first half to help Simpson set a new program record for points scored in a half.
A forward from Olathe, Kan., Kincaid shot 55.6 percent from the field during the week and was even more impressive at the free throw line. She made 5-of-5 free throws in the Storm's midweek matchup with the Prairie Wolves and sank all 13 attempts on Saturday versus the Spartans, giving her 21 consecutive makes at the charity stripe and 57 out of 60 this season.
Kincaid, shooting 95.0 percent overall at the line, is currently in position to finish the season atop the A-R-C leaderboard for the third time in her career; she was previously the conference's most efficient free throw shooter at the conclusion of both her sophomore and senior years. Her current free throw percentage ranks second in all of Division III behind Thiel's Rachel Breckenridge who has made 26-of-27 in nine games.
The Storm (14-1, 6-0 A-R-C) will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 22 against Coe following the postponement of Wednesday's game with Central due to health and safety concerns.
