Five reach double figures in home win over Norse

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Five players scored in double figures and the Simpson College women's basketball team reached the 90-point plateau for the seventh time this season in a 24-point home win over Luther on Saturday.

The No. 5/6 Storm (19-1, 11-0 A-R-C) claimed a 14-point halftime advantage before doubling their lead to 28 at the end of thirty minutes thanks to a dominating 23-9 third quarter. Luther (7-13, 4-7 A-R-C) trimmed the margin by four with a 16-12 fourth quarter to set the final score at 90-66.

The home team had five scorers hit double-digits led by Jenna Taylor and Regan Freland with 15 each. Taylor scored 10 of her points in the opening frame on 5-of-8 shooting and Freland paved the way for the Storm in the third quarter with nine of her 15 points. The duo also combined for four assists and four steals, while Taylor brought down a team-high seven rebounds.

Cassie Nash netted 14 points to go with six rebounds and two assists, Cameron Kincaid had 13 points, two rebounds and two steals, and Anna Wanek finished with 11 points, six rebounds and a career-high four assists. Eleven of Kincaid's points came in the second quarter as the fifth-year senior went 3-of-3 from the floor and 5-of-6 at the line.

Kia Rasmussen scored all eight of her points in the first quarter including back-to-back trifectas that ignited Simpson's largest scoring run of the afternoon, and Hattie Rhodes filled her stat line with nine points, six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.

Simpson knocked down 47.5 percent of its field goal attempts with seven three-pointers, while the Norse shot 35.7 percent from the floor and had five triples. The Storm made a season-high 27 free throws while shooting 79.4 percent at the stripe. Luther went 11-of-18 at the line.
