No. 10 Storm lead wire-to-wire in rout of Saxons

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jenna Taylor had a double-double, Cassie Nash hit 20 points, and the Simpson College women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 37-point victory over Alfred at the Daytona Beach Shootout on Monday.

The No. 10 Storm (8-1) downed 54 points in the first half and added 40 in the final 20 minutes to win 94-57, the team's highest scoring output and largest margin of victory this season. The Storm shot 47.0 percent from the field and had a dominant 50-14 advantage on points in the paint.

Defensively, Simpson held the Saxons (5-3) to a 30.0 percent shooting clip from the floor and forced 28 turnovers which led to 32 points for the Storm. Nine players registered a steal during the contest with five collecting multiple takeaways.

Taylor led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She scored 16 points in the first half and added 10 in the second, shooting 64.7 percent from the field overall (11-17).

Nash hit 20 points while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor (8-12) and 80.0 percent at the line (4-5) and had six assists, one less than Kia Rasmussen who handed out a game-high seven assists for the second game in a row.

Regan Freland added 14 points, four assists and four rebounds, Anna Wanek finished with 11 points and five boards, and Cameron Kincaid contributed eight points and six rebounds. Hattie Rhodes filled her stat line with seven points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
