Taylor tabbed Academic All-America of the Year

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson College women's basketball senior Jenna Taylor now stands alone as the only student-athlete in team history to be named the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America of the Year, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) on Wednesday.

Taylor is now the second student-athlete in school history to earn this honor, joining Garrett Pochop, who tallied the award in 2017 with men's soccer.

The Creston, Iowa native has now received Academic All-America status twice in her career, the first coming after the 2018-19 campaign on the second team. She's the first in program history to earn Academic All-America honors twice in a career and first to land on the top team since Kate Nielsen in 2013.

The forward piled on the accolades after helping lead the Storm to a 12-0 record and the 13th conference title in program history. She has received recognition on the D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Teams, and has earned American Rivers Conference and D3hoops.com All-West Region Players of the Year distinction.

Inside the classroom, the accounting and economics: finance major posted a 4.00 GPA. Taylor is one of two student-athletes between the three Academic All-America teams to hold a perfect GPA.

On the hardwood, Jenna posted a scoring average of 20.1 points per game for 14th best in the nation. Her 48.3% shooting clip from behind the arc was 11th best in the country. She ended with a conference-leading 9.0 rebounds per game to pair with five double-doubles.
