Taylor named to D3hoops.com All-America First Team

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- A day after earning a spot on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America Team, Simpson College senior Jenna Taylor has been named to the D3hoops.com All-America First Team, the organization announced Thursday.

In the 24 years the team has been named, Taylor is just the second D3hoops.com All-America First Team honoree in program history and the first since Kate Nielsen received the accolade in 2012-13.

The Creston, Iowa native led the Storm to a 12-0 mark and the program's 13th conference title in 2020-21. Simpson capped off the undefeated season ranked No. 4 in the D3hoops.com Top-15 Poll.

The forward's list of accomplishments keeps growing. Along with the two All-America awards, Taylor was tabbed the American Rivers Conference and D3hoops.com All-West Region Players of the Year. Taylor also received the league player of the week award three times.

Taylor has also been selected to play as a member of the WBCA Women's Collegiate All-Star Team. Fellow A-R-C players, Payton Draper (Wartburg) and Jackie Feldt (Coe), join Taylor on the team.

Taylor finished the year second in the A-R-C and 14th in the nation in scoring (20.1 ppg) and 11th in the country in 3-point shooting (48.3%). Her 9.0 rebounds per outing were tops in the league to go along with five double-doubles.

The All-America teams are chosen by D3hoops.com staff in consultation with results from players nominated for All-Region. In this pandemic year, a player had to be on a team which played five or more games (not exhibitions) to be eligible for consideration. Because of the lack of interconference play, no national individual awards will be handed out for 2021.
