Taylor notches third A-R-C weekly honor this season

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- No. 13 Simpson College women's basketball senior Jenna Taylor averaged a double-double last week en route to being named the American Rivers Conference Athlete of the Week for a third time this season, the league announced Monday.

Taylor has now earned this weekly honor seven times during her career for the Storm (6-0, 5-0 A-R-C). The Simpson women have now had four selections this season with senior Cameron Kincaid joining Taylor as the other recipient. Taylor is not the only Simpson student-athlete to garner weekly accolades today, volleyball's Lexie Parks was tabbed the A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week.

The Creston, Iowa product started her week strong with a 26-point, 14-rebound effort in a 79-68 win over Buena Vista on Wednesday after a two-week layoff. She went 9-for-16 from the floor with four 3-pointers.

Taylor kept the momentum going by dropping 21 points at Loras on Saturday to help the Storm win 98-91 over the Duhawks. The forward shot 70.0% and secured her fourth 20-point effort of the season. In addition to the double-figure output, Taylor collected nine boards. The victory is the first for Simpson over Loras in six tries and first on the road since the 2012-13 campaign.

Among A-R-C programs this year, Taylor is first in scoring (22.0), rebounding (10.0), field goal percentage (60.0%) and 3-point percentage (60.0%). Across the country, she is sixth in 3-point percentage, eighth in 3-pointers made per game (3.0) and points per game.

Taylor and the Storm take on Luther (0-6, 0-5 A-R-C) tonight for a 5:30 p.m. game in Decorah.
