Taylor selected to WBCA All-America Team

ATLANTA -- Add a Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America Team selection to the growing list of accolades that Simpson College senior Jenna Taylor has received this season, the WBCA announced Wednesday.

"We congratulate the 10 members of the 2021 WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America Team for what they have accomplished in this challenging season," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "These young women have worked to elevate their teams and themselves to an elite level of competition. Through their exceptional talents on the basketball court, they have also lifted the women's game."

Taylor becomes the fourth member in program history to land on the 10-member team, joining Laurie Sankey (1983 and 1984), Katelyn Whiton (2008) and Kate Nielsen (2013).

The Creston, Iowa native has compiled a long list of accomplishments during the 2020-21 campaign. Taylor earned the American Rivers Conference and D3hoops.com All-West Region Player of the Year awards, while being named the conference player of the week on three occasions. Taylor is the seventh player in team history to earn league MVP honors and third to receive the accolade from D3hoops.com.

Taylor was a key piece in helping the Storm finish the shortened season 12-0 to win the program's 13th conference championship and first since 2013.

The forward averaged 20.1 points per game for second in the league and 14th in the nation, while connecting on 48.3% of her attempts from deep for 11th in the country. Taylor recorded five double-doubles while averaging 9.0 rebounds per contest to pace the A-R-C. She is 10th in program history with 1,183 career points.

Illinois Wesleyan University's Kendall Sosa was named the WBCA NCAA Division III Player of the Year. Shannon Devitt (The College of New Jersey), Kiera Downey (Rhodes College), Nicole Heffington (John Carroll University), Kaylee Otlowski (Salisbury University), Leah Porath (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh), Kenedy Schoonveld (Hope College), Leah Springer (Messiah University) and Olivia Voskuil (Hope College) join Taylor and Sosa as 2021 WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches' All-Americans.

Head coach Brian Niemuth was a finalist for the United States Marine Corps/WBCA NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year. Brian Morehouse from Hope College was named the National Coach of the Year.
