WBB Preview: No. 13 Simpson travels to Luther on Monday

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The No. 13 Simpson College women's basketball team will take on Luther tomorrow night in a quick turnaround after playing on Saturday.

The Storm (6-0, 5-0 A-R-C) survived another slow start on Saturday by winning 98-91 at Loras to remain unbeaten and atop the American Rivers Conference standings. The Norse (0-6, 0-5 A-R-C) are on the opposite end of the league standings after falling 62-59 to Nebraska Wesleyan yesterday.

LUTHER ATTENDANCE POLICY
Each team (home and away) will be allowed 50 spectators for a pass list to be submitted one day prior to the contest.

Simpson moved up a spot to No. 13 in this week's D3hoops.com Top-15 Poll with an unbeaten record ... the Storm are one of nine programs in the top 15 that are without a blemish ... Simpson is currently second in the nation in 3-pointers made per game with 10.6 and are sixth with an 81.0% clip at the charity stripe ... Simpson is joined by A-R-C foe, Wartburg, on the list as the Knights are No. 6.

ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE
Simpson College placed 17 student-athletes on the 2020-21 American Rivers Conference Winter All-Academic Team to lead the league ... women's basketball had 10 selections: Kelli Hanson, Cameron Kincaid, Cassie Nash, Kia Rasmussen, Hattie Rhodes, Alyssa Rostad, Keara Schmitt, Jenna Taylor, Alaira Tyus and Chloe Van Vliet.

LUTHER SERIES NOTES
The Norse and Storm square up for the 87th time on Monday as Simpson looks to begin a new winning streak in the series ... Luther won 73-63 in the last meeting to snap a three-game losing skid after the Storm garnered a 90-66 victory in the first meeting last year ... over the last 12 meetings, only two games has been within seven points.

ABOUT THE NORSE
Luther is still looking for its first win this season after six-straight defeats to sit at the bottom of the A-R-C standings ... the Norse are averaging 52.7 points per game, while allowing 72.5 on the defensive side ... Jordan Rubie is the lone scorer that's averaging double figures with 11.3 ppg ... Lizzie Kauls is second on the team in scoring at 9.0 and paces Luther with 7.5 rebounds per contest.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second game in a row, Simpson found itself down by double digits in the first quarter, but staged a comeback to win, this time in a 98-91 game over Loras ... the win provided the Storm their first over the Duhawks in six tries and first victory at Loras since the 2012-13 campaign ... Simpson saw itself down 14-0 in the first quarter, before erupting for 25 points and held the Duhawks to 10 in the second half to take a 43-38 lead at the break ... the Storm piled on to the lead by outscoring the hosts by four in the third and kept the foot on the gas through the fourth to win ... Jenna Taylor finished with 21 points and nine boards, while Cameron Kincaid (19), Cassie Nash (16), Regan Freland (12), Hattie Rhodes (11) and Raegan Boothe (11) all had double figures.
