Taylor earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honor

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- For the second time in her career, Simpson College women's basketball senior Jenna Taylor has been named College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team, announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.

Taylor was selected to the Academic All-District Eight First Team at the end of the 2018-19 season, which led to an Academic All-America selection a few weeks later. Taylor is now the sixth player to receive this honor in program history and second to do so twice in a career to join Kate Nielsen (2012 and 2013).

The forward continues to add to her long list of accomplishments this season. Taylor landed on the D3Hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Teams last week, and was named the American Rivers Conference and D3hoops.com All-West Region Players of the Year.

The Creston, Iowa native has been busy off the court in her career by managing a 4.00 GPA as an accounting and economics: finance major. She was one of three student-athletes among the 40 recipients to earn Academic All-District distinction in NCAA Division III to hold a 4.00 GPA.

During the season, Taylor finished second in the league and 14th in the nation in scoring a 20.1 points per game and 11th in the country in 3-point percentage at 48.3%. She tallied five double-doubles to pair with a league-leading rebounds per contest average of 9.0.

Taylor will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late May.
