Berglund named assistant women’s soccer coach

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College head women's soccer coach Jeremy Reinert has announced the addition of Katie Berglund to his staff as the program's first full-time assistant coach. Berglund joins the program after a decorated playing career at Wartburg College.

"We are extremely excited to have Coach Berglund join our staff," said Reinert. "Her positive energy is clear and contagious. She will be a natural fit with our returning players and someone we are excited to have share the vision of the program with future Storm players on the recruiting trail."

A four-year member of the Knights soccer team, Berglund earned All-American Rivers Conference honors three times and was named Second Team All-Region at the conclusion of her final season. She led the Knights to the NCAA Tournament in three of four seasons (no tournament in 2020) and hoisted an A-R-C regular season trophy as a sophomore.

"Coach Berglund's individual and team success speaks for itself," Reinert said. "As we look to make the jump from a conference contender to a regionally- and nationally-recognized program, Coach Berglund's experience and knowledge of what it takes to win in our league and on a national stage will be an incredible boost."

In addition to a stellar playing career, Berglund developed her coaching resume as a student assistant coach in the Wartburg soccer office. She also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Denver High School and spent time working summer youth soccer camps in the Des Moines area with her former club, Vision Soccer Academy.

Berglund will officially join the Storm in June as the team and staff prepare for the 2023 fall season.
