Simpson suffers 1-0 setback to Comets

RICHARDSON, Texas. – The Simpson College women's soccer team opened its Texas trip with a 1-0 loss to Texas at Dallas on Friday evening.

The Comets (2-1) broke through with the game's lone goal in the 55th minute as freshman Janae Shaklee found the back of the net with the help of Sierra Foster.

Cassie Nash and Brissa Valadez led the way for the Storm (1-2-1) offense, which outshot the Comets by a 17-10 margin. Each took three shots in the game with Valadez placing one of hers on net and Nash nearly missing a pair of goals with two shots that went just wide of the post.

"Tough result after a really great performance from our team," said head coach Jeremy Reinert. "We are showing massive growth game-by-game and are proud of the level we put on display tonight. Ready to take another step forward tomorrow against another strong opponent here in Dallas!"
