Storm fall to unbeaten Duhawks

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson College women's soccer fell 3-0 to No. 23/18 Loras on Saturday inside Buxton Stadium.

The Duhawks (9-0-3, 2-0 A-R-C) converted both of their first-half goals within a span of two minutes. Kaighin Frost scored first shortly after a Loras corner kick, and Ryleigh O'Brien added the first insurance tally moments later for her league-leading 12th goal of the season. Lauren Riggle provided the assist on O'Brien's goal.

In the 71st minute, Loras pushed its lead to three off the foot of Erin Rieckens. O'Brien fired a shot that deflected off the left post in front of Rieckens who finished the chance.

Simpson (5-5-1, 2-1 A-R-C) took 15 shots and placed seven on target. Hailey Kowzan and Julia Wagoner each had two shots on goal.

Lani Mears made nine saves for the Storm, who suffered their first home defeat of the season.

With the victory, Loras has now won 13th consecutive conference contests dating back to April 16, 2021, the team's second-to-last match of the 2020 season.
