Nash, Klein collect weekly A-R-C honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson College women's soccer senior Cassie Nash and Storm men's cross country junior Andrew Klein have both been named American Rivers Conference Performers of the Week in their respective sports.

This is Nash's second time earning the conference's weekly honor in soccer and third overall after being named women's basketball player of the week in February. Klein picks up his first career runner of the week award.

As part of a 2-1 week for women's soccer, Nash scored three goals and had two assists for a total of eight points. She started the week with a goal and assist in the Storm's 5-0 onslaught of Knox and ended the week with her first multi-goal performance of the year in which she tallied another assist to help Simpson post a 3-0 win at Dallas. Nash currently leads the team in shots (22), points (10), shots on goal (10), goals scored (4) and assists (2).

Klein ran a career-best 8k to lead the Storm to a third place finish at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell on Saturday. The junior placed second with a time of 25:43.7, taking 25 seconds off his personal-best time from last year in Grinnell. Klein came in second for Simpson in its opening week. 

Simpson women's soccer continues its season on Wednesday at Augustana, while the men's cross country team is back in action on the first of October.
