Simpson falls to Duhawks in title match

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson College women's soccer team fell 6-1 to No. 11/15 Loras in the American Rivers Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday.

A top-15 scoring offense, Loras (16-0-3, 8-0 A-R-C) netted its first goal in the 12th minute off the foot of Savannah Johnson. The Duhawks added another score in the 18th minute before Johnson made it 3-0 with a header off a corner kick. The home team would add two more goals prior to the break and notched their final goal on a penalty kick midway through the second period.

Lizzie Arnburg sent Simpson (12-6-1, 6-2 A-R-C) out on a high note, heading in a corner kick from Cassie Nash to put the Storm on the board in the 81st minute. It was the first goal allowed by Loras since Sept. 30 and the only goal scored by an A-R-C school against the Duhawk defense this season.

With an assist on Arnburg's goal, Nash finishes her incredible senior campaign with 55 points to rank eighth all-time on the single season leaderboard. Her 24 goals are tied for sixth.
