Storm claim three event victories at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Simpson College men's track and field team saw three event victories in the Wartburg Triangular.

Carter Berkey claimed victory in the long jump and Max Cleveland took home the gold in the 110 meter hurdles. Cleveland also joined the 4x400 meter relay team that took first place in one of the best times in school history.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Berkey won the long jump in a mark of 6.85 meters, with the senior now claiming three event victories in his final outdoor season for the Storm.
  • Cleveland claimed the win in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.62.
  • Cleveland then joined teammates Ulysses Patterson, Brenden Godbout, and Joseph Sams to win the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:14.86. The time is the sixth-fastest in school history.
  • James Murray set a new season best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:53.99, the second-fastest time of his career.
  • Troy Galloway continued his fine season in the javelin, taking the silver in the event with a toss of 47.65 meters.
  • Kendrick Achebe led the sprinters in the 100 and 200 meters. Achebe took the bronze in the 100 meters and also set a new career best in the 200 meters (22.75).

UP NEXT
The Storm will begin competition at the American Rivers Conference Championships next Thursday in Lincoln, Neb.
