Moon caps storied career with another All-American award
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Spencer Moon capped off his storied track career at Simpson College with a 14th place finish in the 5000 meter run, achieving his fourth career All-American award in the process.
Just 48 hours after winning a national title in the 10,000 meters, Moon crossed the finish line in 14:28.43 to earn Second Team All-American accolades. He's the fifth athlete in team history to garner at least four All-American awards in their career as well as the first athlete to achieve multiple at the same meet since 1992.
Along with his four All-American trophies, Moon tallied 16 all-region awards, 14 all-conference honors, and eight conference championships in what will go down as one of the greatest running careers in Simpson history. The 11-time national qualifier was named the Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year twice as well as the American Rivers Conference MVP three times. He departs the program as the record holder of all six distance races as well as the distance medley relay.
