Storm have solid showing at Iowa State
AMES, Iowa - Multiple Simpson College men's track and field athletes saw career-bests and high placements at the Iowa State Holiday Invite.
Joseph Sams came within .01 seconds of the 300 meter school record held by teammate Max Cleveland, finishing in a blistering 35.65. Cleveland turned in a fine performance in a field full of premier Division I hurdlers, taking fourth in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.10.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sams moved into second all-time in school history in the 300, while Blake DePhillips was not far behind in a time of 35.79, good for third all-time.
- Brendan Godbout also joined the top 10 all-time in the event, clocking a 36.23 to tie for fourth all-time.
- Cleveland placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles prelims and finals, running near-identical times of 8.09 and 8.10.
- Kendrick Achebe ran a career-best 7.06 in the 60 meters, coming up just .01 seconds off the top 10 in school history.
- Sams also set a career-best in the event with a time of 7.15.
